Scope
Anesthesia Memo is a personal support app for anesthesia case notes, manually entered intraoperative records, and post-case review.
Data stored
Case notes, vital signs, medication logs, IN/OUT records, settings, and user-entered supervisor labels are stored on the user's device. Case archives use iOS Data Protection. Users can choose whether to prioritize stronger protection while the device is locked or continued autosave after first unlock.
When the app becomes inactive or enters the background, visible case content is replaced with a privacy cover to reduce exposure in the app switcher. This feature does not replace a device passcode or biometric authentication and does not prevent screenshots while the app is in use.
Transmission and sharing
The app does not create an external account and does not transmit case data to a developer-operated server. When a user exports data through the iOS share sheet, the selected service's privacy policy applies. Users can choose whether case archives are included in the OS-managed device backup; when included, they are managed according to the user's iOS, iCloud, or Finder settings.
The free version can export one case as a readable personal archive or as a sharing copy that omits exact dates, case titles, supervisor labels, and free text. Pro adds bulk export of all cases and encrypted archival backup. The sharing copy reduces identifiers but does not guarantee anonymity. The encrypted archive can be recovered to TXT or JSON on a computer; re-importing it into the app is not currently supported. Personal archives and recovered TXT or JSON files are not encrypted.
With Pro, facility settings can be exported to or imported from a JSON file at the user's request. The file contains only a facility alias, entered concentrations, and the unit; it does not contain patient or case information, supervisor labels, confirmation times, or internal app identifiers. An official facility name used as the alias may identify the facility to a recipient. Imported settings are always added as unconfirmed and remain hidden from the intraoperative screen until the user verifies them against local procedure and the actual medication label.
Pro encrypted backups are created on the device using AES-256-GCM and PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256. Recovery keys are not transmitted to or retained by the developer. The developer cannot recover or reissue a lost key.
In-app purchase
The optional Anesthesia Memo Pro purchase and optional development-support purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store. The app verifies Apple's signed entitlement on the device and does not use a developer account or purchase server. Case data, facility settings, supervisor labels, and recovery keys are not sent as part of purchase processing.
Apple processes payment, purchase-history, and refund information under Apple's privacy policy. The developer may receive App Store sales and financial reports, but has no mechanism to link them to case data.
This support site
This site does not use first-party cookies, analytics, or advertising. It is delivered through GitHub Pages, which may process access information under the GitHub Privacy Statement.
The recovery page provides instructions and a download only; decryption is disabled while the tool is served over the web. The downloaded tool runs as a local file and uses no external network connection, analytics, advertising, or third-party library.
Identifiers
Users should not enter patient-identifiable information. Dates, facility names, and staff names may also identify a person when combined with other details.
Supervisor and facility names are optional on-device display labels entered by the user. Follow local policy and use initials, aliases, or role labels when formal names are unnecessary. These labels may be included in exports and device backups.
Deletion
Users can delete all case data from Settings. This removes saved cases and the current working case, then creates a new empty draft. App settings are retained unless changed separately. Data already included in a device backup remains subject to Apple's backup settings.
Public support posts
Content submitted to GitHub Issues is public and managed by GitHub. Do not post patient, staff, or facility identifiers, real-case screenshots, facility-settings files, case exports, encrypted backups, or recovery keys.
Medical boundary
This app is not an official anesthesia record, medical device, diagnostic tool, or medication order system. Final clinical decisions must follow official records, package labeling, local protocols, and clinician judgment.
